Color Club Halo-Hues Stripes

Hey y'all!  Today's nails are brought to by way of yesterday's post where I posted the Color Club Halo Hues swatches.  I decided to add some stripes.  It's very subtle because the colors are so light.

These were done using Color Club Cloud Nine, Blue Heaven and Harp On It.

I am seriously in love with this whole collection, they are gorgeous aren't they?

Color Club Halo Hues Swatches

Hey y'all!  I'm sure by now you've seen tons of swatches of the Color Club Halo Hues BUT you haven't seen them on Amber Did It yet lol.  There's really nothing all that special or different about my swatches but they are beautiful and I didn't think anyone would mind a gratuitous holo post.  ;)

I have had these for several weeks now and I just got around to swatching them.  They were part of my prize from Lindsey of Neverland Nail Blog when I did her Time Warp Challenge.  So super duper thank yous go out to Lindsey and her sponsor Nail Polish Canada.

Color Club Angel Kiss

Color Club Cherubic

Color Club Harp On It

China Glaze Cirque Du Soleil: Worlds Away~3 Swatches

Hey y'all!  Today I have some absolute gorgeousness to share with you from the new China Glaze Cirque Du Soleil Worlds Away Collection.   These may be my favorite from the collection.

First swatch I have is China Glaze Water You Waiting For with a coat of China Glaze Fast Dry top coat.  This is a beautiful glitter polish with teal, blue and green glitter.  It's opaque in 2 coats and it so absolutely gorgeous and sparkly.  If you don't have this yet, what ARE you waiting for?  You need it, I promise!

Next is China Glaze Hanging In the Balance.  This is a beautiful blue creme, opaque in two coats, goes on smoothly with no streaking.  It's so shiny too, this is with no top coat.  This may be my new favorite blue creme.  Y'all know I LOVE the blues.  ;)

Lastly, but not leastly, is China Glaze Creative Fantasy.  This is 3 coats.  It's a really nice purple jelly.  It has an interesting finish that reminds me of latex or something like that.  I'm not sure how to describe it exactly, it's a cross between a matte and shine.  Does that make sense? lol

Here are a few ideas to mix up these beauties.  This first one is Hanging in the Balance with an accent nail of Water You Waiting For.

This is Creative Fantasy with glitter gradient tips using Water You Waiting For.

Is this beautiful or what?

SoFlaJo Last to Leave~Swatch & Review

Hey y'all!  I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday.  Did you get any Black Friday shopping done?  I didn't go shopping today, I'm not patient enough for Black Friday lol.

Today I am sharing a new polish from SoFlaJo, "Last To Leave" from the Pary Time Nail Polish Collection

This is what Jody, maker of SoFlaJo polishes, has to say about "Last To Leave":
"Last to Leave – Everybody knows those people that are the Last to Leave the party. This green matte polish is dedicated to the last one out the door when the party’s over. Oh yeah, please turn out the lights! Opacity is reached in two coats."

This is a beautiful green matte polish.  It has some sparkle to it even though it's matted.  There is some scattered teal iridescent glitter that is a nice surprise when in the sunlight.  It goes on smoothly and is opaque in 2 coats like she says.  It's really lovely.

All of the SoFlaJo Party Time Collection are amazing and available now HERE .  SoFlaJo is also having a Cyber Monday sale on November 26, free shipping on all purchases over $20.

Since this polish is part of her holiday collection, I decided it needed a little Holiday nail art too.  I added a little holly berry accent.  This is my first official Christmas nail art :)

This product was sent to me for review for my honest opinion.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hey y'all!  Since I had a whole series of guest posts this month called The Thankful Bloggers AND it's Thanksgiving, I thought I needed to do a thankful post of my own.

First, I'll share my official Thanksgiving Day nails :)
]

I started these Charlie Brown Thanksgiving nails with an OPI Gradient and then free handed Snoopy, Woodstock and Charlie Brown with acrylic paints.

I'm kind of loving these nails!!  I also LOVE Charlie Brown.  It's a family tradition every year.  We watch The Great Pumpkin, the Thanksgiving special and the Christmas special every year.  I watched them when I was a kid and I love being able to watch them with my kids now.  <3

Polishes Used:
OPI German-icure by OPI
OPI Danke Shiney Red
OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby?

I have so much in my life to be thankful for, I have a happy and healthy family, great friends and a hobby that brings me lots of happiness.  You can't really ask for more than that I don't think.  I know that's probably all very cliche but it's the truth.  I am so thankful that God has blessed me with such an amazing life.

I hope you all are having a very special day and I hope you are getting to spend it with all of the people you love.  Happy Thanksgiving!  XOXO

Gobble Gobble~Mom and Daughter Turkey nails

Hey y'all!  Happy Thanksgiving Eve to all my US friends.  I'm getting things ready for our big Thanksgiving lunch tomorrow.   I'm hosting this year and I can't wait.  Family, food, and football.  :)

My daughter wanted me to do some Thanksgiving nails so I thought it would do both of our nails.

I have been loving some glitter gradients lately.  I'm getting better at it lol

Polishes Used:
Ulta Chocoholic
China Glaze Glitter Goblin
Kleancolor Metallic Red
Kleancolor Metallic Mango
China Glaze Sunshine Pop
Wet N Wild ?? name, metallic yellow

With her's I was going for a dot gradient at the tips, with the metallic polishes.  As you can see, being the 9 year old she is, she onlyhad it on a few minutes before she messed them up lol.

Polishes Used:
Ulta Chocoholic
Kleancolor Metallic Red
Kleancolor Metallic Mango
China Glaze Sunshine Pop
Wet N Wild ?? name, metallic yellow

If I have time tonight I am planning on doing some different nail art for tomorrow.  I have a lot to do today though so hopefully I'll have time.  I know this isn't going to last through cooking and cleaning all day lol.  Have a great day y'all!  XO

NFL Series #11~Cleveland Browns

Hey y'all!  I normally post this on Sundays but I'm running a little behind this week.  This week's NFL nail art is the Cleveland Browns.  The Browns give you very little to work with as far as mascots go.  I mean seriously, what's a Brown anyways?  I don't get it...but whatever.  If you're a Browns fan, please feel free to give me a Browns education lol.

Their colors are brown (duh! lol), orange and white.  Their helmet is very plain, it's orange with brown and white stripes.  Like I said, not much to work with.  So this is what I came up with for my Cleveland Browns nails.  I'm feeling kind of "meh" about them.

 Polishes Used:
Ulta Choco-holic
Wet N Wild Sunny Side Up
Pure Ice White

I'm also feeling a little uncreative right now due to the super nubs I'm rocking.  My fingers now look super short and fat to me lol  Hopefully they grow fast like they have been. I don't want to have nubs for all the Christmas nails I have planned.  :(

Thanks for stopping by today, have a great Monday! XO

Thankful Bloggers Guest Series~Nail A College Drop Out

Hey y'all!  Today I have the last (but not least) post in my Thankful Bloggers Guest Series.  Today I have one of the funniest and coolest nail bloggers posting, Briana from Nail A College Drop Out.   Just from her blog's title, you know she's your average girl.  She's funny, smart, and always has some seriously bad ass nails.

Briana, thank you so so much for posting on my blog.  I'm really excited to have you here today! XO Amber

Well here I am writing this guest post for Amber. It would help if I actually told you who I was, right? Right! In case you didn’t know—and I’m positive most of you don’t (because sadly, I’m not Mrs. Justin Timberlake. That lucky duck.)—I’m Briana from Nail a College Drop Out.
When Amber contacted me and asked me to be a part of this series, the first thing I thought was, “oh hell yeah! I’m down!” After collecting my thoughts I replied with a more eloquent “Yes, I’d love to!” And now I get to tell you what I’m thankful for.

With the holiday season already here, I’m absolutely positive you’ve all seen people getting incredibly deep into their feelings via social networks about what they appreciate most in life. While getting all emotional and what not is fine and good, I’m just not that type.  So allow me to make a few funny anecdotes and share with you some things I’m thankful for.

1.       A non-retail related job.
Seriously though. Have you ever worked in retail? Especially during the holidays? If you have you should already know why this is number one on the list.

2.       A few good men friends.
Its quality not quantity.

3.       Mr. Nail A College Drop Out
I said I wouldn’t get mushy, but I guess its okay because he’s my high school sweetheart right? Besides, who else is going to pay for my nail polish aside from myself?

4.       THANKSGIVING
My absolute favorite holiday of all time! Think of it like this: you can eat all the food you want and no one can judge you. (And the leftovers are ALWAYS amazing!)

5.       Sarcasm
What would my world be without it? I seem to get away with saying just about anything and people think it’s funny because I’m “sarcastic.” I prefer unnecessarily honest, but whatever floats your boat.

6.       Last but certainly not least, NAIL POLISH!
Without my nail polish I probably wouldn’t have a blog. More so to the point you probably wouldn’t be reading my guest post.
I’m sure I have more than enough lacquer to last several lifetimes and then some but will that stop me? Of course not!

In the event you’re not a huge fan of my dry sense of humor, you just might like my nails. ;

Tune in. Drop out. Love polish.

Beauty Blogazons Weekly Roundup~11/17/12

Thankful Bloggers Guest Post Series~Sincerely Stephanie

Hey y'all!  I hope you're having a great weekend. Today I have another great guest post in my Thankful Bloggers Guest Series.  Today's thankful blogger is Stephanie of Sincerely Stephanie. I am so happy to have her here today and I know you will give her a warm welcome and show her lots of love.  The tribal nail art design she sent to share is outstanding.

Thank you so much for being a part of this series, Stephanie. XO~Amber

Hey everyone! I am so excited to be here today on Amber Did It! Amber is actually one of the first blogs that I found when I started blogging and I have been an avid admirer of her ever since. I mean come on! She is AMAZING! Her talent blows my mind.

My inspiration for this manicure is the current weather. It is getting cold in Canada so I wanted to create something in 'cold' colours. I started with Milani White On The Spot on my thumb, ring and pinky nails. Then using It's So Easy Stripe Rite in black and blue (my favourite stripers ever) I freehanded on a random tribal design. Then I added two accent nails with China Glaze Glistening Snow, a superb dense silvery holographic glitter. Think China Glaze Fairy Dust, on steroids.

I love the tribal look, because all it requires is drawing lines! And with those stripers drawing lines is the easiest thing in the world.

Amber also asked me to write about something I am thankful for. I am actually thankful for so many things and I could probably write a novel! I am incredibly thankful for my family. They are so supportive and we are a crazy bunch of people that are fortunate enough to be really close to each other. I also have an amazing group of friends that I have known since high school. These people seriously rock and even though we all went away to different Universities we have stayed good friends. I am also so thankful for my boyfriend James. He is so sweet and supportive and I absolutely love him to bits. I could probably go on forever, but one last thing I am thankful for is all the wonderful people I have met through nail polish and blogging! It is so nice to know that I am not the only crazy person out there and the community is filled with such amazing people! I have made many good friends, and even had the opportunity to meet some of them in real life.

I want to thank Amber for letting me take over her blog for the day! I seriously cannot get enough of her nail art! So much love! :)

Have a fabulous day! <3

Sincerely Stephanie

I have so much to be thankful for! I have a great husband (although sometimes I want to strangle him) who works very hard to provide for our family. I'm very blessed to be living in a small town, far away from the hustle and bustle of the big city - that I know my son's school teachers and administrators, and that I can be active in the school's PTO. If you hadn't guessed, my husband and son comes first and foremost in my life. We added a new bundle of joy to our household this year - a Cairn Terrier puppy named Clark Kent. As my son put it the other day, Clark is the president of our house. haha I am very thankful for the job I have. It gets me out of the house for a few hours a week (which is great because my husband works from home, see above re: strangling), plus I get a little bit of extra spending money on the side. I'm thankful we're all healthy, you know, aside from the intermittent sniffles here and there. We have a house, food and clothing...although that last one is creeping up on us again - my son is growing out of all his clothes! I keep asking him to stop, but he won't! Kid's gonna be taller than me before he's out of elementary school :) I'm also thankful for great friends I've met through blogging - friends like Amber! <3

Thank you so much for doing a post on my blog today, Destany.  I am truly honored!  XO

Basket Weave Nail Art and a Tutorial

Hello!  I got a request on facebook for a Basket Weave Nail tutorial after my NoH8 Post.  I love this design so I was glad to do a tutorial so others can do it too.  It's really not as difficult as it may look.  Most nail art isn't as hard as it looks actually.  I've heard a lot of people say that certain designs look intimidating but most of the designs out there just take a little patience and practice.  If you can use a pencil you can use a paint brush, I promise.  Get a cheap set of nail art brushes and a whole new world of nail art can open up to you.  I recently bought a set of 15 on ebay for $3.99 with free shipping.  That was the best $3.99 I've ever spent.  I'll be doing a post about them in a few days.

Okay, I digress....on to the nails and tutorial  :)

Polishes Used:
Wet N Wild Black Creme
Essie No Place Like Chrome

There's really not much to it.  If you can paint some straight lines, you're golden.   I started with the Black Creme base then took my flat firm brush and made three vertical stripes, then made the horizontal stripes.  After that I took a thin, pointed, stiff brush and made the weave lines over the silver.  If you don't get your lines perfectly straight, you can always go back over a little with the other color and straighten them up, nobody will know the difference.  I promise my lines don't always start out so nice, I always have to go over them some and do a little cleaning up up the edges.

These are the two brushes I used for this design.  I really like that angled brush, it's so easy to work with.  I plan on doing a whole post about this brush set soon.  They're the bomb.com.

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and found it easy and useful.  If you try it, I'd love to see your finished nails.  Feel free to post them on my Facebook page.  Have a great day everyone!  XO
