Amber's Halloween Extravaganza

Hey y'all! Are you in a Halloween mood yet?  I have been seeing some awesome Halloween nail art creations in the blogosphere lately.  I just love this time of year!  I love decorating my house, picking out costumes, dressing up, the whole nine Halloween yardage.

This weekend my husband and I were invited to a birthday party for my friend Stacy and it was a Halloween costume party.  I thought I'd share all of my costume stuff with y'all.  You normally only get to see my nails but today you're getting the whole kit and caboodle.  Make up, nails, jewelry, costume, and with permission, you even get to see my arm candy, Mr. Amber, AKA John. ;)

First and foremost, the nails.  I wore Wet & Wild Fantasy Makers "Purple Potion" with an accent Spider Web done with white acrylic paint.  I think this was perfect for my costume.  "Purple Potion" is an awesome Halloween polish, black base with lots of purple micro glitter. It's perfect alone but being me I knew I couldn't go without at least some nail art. (You can see my Spider Web Tutorial HERE.)

I went as a witch.  I made my costume out of some black fabric that I've had in a box forever and the corset was made out of what I'll call pleather lol.  It was left over fabric (or whatever you want to call it) from my husband redoing his truck doors.  I really have no idea what it's made of.  It had a leather look to it on the outside and a wool back side.  Like I said, no idea what it was but it served it's purpose.  I had some grommets that I used when I scrapbooked and I painted them silver with nail polish.  The white string is just yarn.  It was very randomly put together but I was really happy with how it turned out.  I felt sexy lol.

Next we have my witch make up.  I actually practiced several days before and had two different ways I liked but in the end I went with this one.  This look was achieved using  eyeshadows: Essence Starlight, LA Colors charcoal color from the Hipnotic pallet,  and a deep purple baked eyeshadow by Sally Girl.  The eye liner was Wet and Wild Black liquid liner and Rimmel Exaggerate waterproof liner in Black.  I also wore my first false lashes!!!!

This was my other option, I just used some random green shades from a Colorwork shop pallet that I got for Christmas a few years ago.  You know the ones that Wal-mart sells around Christmas time?

These were the lashes I picked up from Wal-Mart.  They were $2.97 in the Halloween section.  They came with adhesive and were pretty easy to apply for my first time.  They were a lot of fun to wear and added a great accent to my witchy eye makeup I think.

The necklace I wore was a $3 purchase from Wal-Mart (halloween section) and the owl ring is something I've had for a while and I just thought it would make a good witch accessory.

Altogether I spent about $10 for my whole costume.  Not bad, huh?

Oh, I can't forget my completely gratuitous photo.  Me and my honey!  He was a bad ass biker.  :)

I had a lot of fun coming up with my costume and getting dressed up, we had a great time at the party.  Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed my Halloween costume stuff today. :)  XOXO

  1. Cool design, and I love the makeup!!

  2. I love everything in this post! Your nails are amazing, please come and do my eye makeup! I don't think I'm dressing up this year - which is a bummer!

    1. Thanks Heather. I probably won't dress up for the actual Halloween day. I generally do a little something when I take my kids trick or treating but nothing major. Cat ears, a mask, something simple.

  3. Oh Amber, Hi! I love the Extravaganza! You and the hubs look like a fun and fantastic couple. So cute!

I am so happy to know you liked my post today! I have checked you out here for some time now, you are so fun and hilarious!! This blog in particular is special to me because I grew up in Louisiana.

I really appreciate your feedback on my post. It was hard to do, but Kelly and others speaking out has really helped encourage me.

I mean, everyone gets down sometimes, we shouldn't add shame on top of it too!

I wish you a happy day filled with small joys
I will be seeing you again soon.

  4. GIRL. THAT MAKEUP. It's absolutely killer! I love it! Please, do more EOTD or eye makeup tutorial posts! Although some of us are confident in nail abilities, we might not be confident in the eye makeup department...*cough*...I suck at makeup. haha =P

    1. LOL Well Thank you! My day to day make up is really not that adventurous. I pretty much wear my make up the same every day. I have a white highlighter, a shimmery beige on my lids and this mauvey brown in my creases, black liner and mascara with some lip gloss. It's not exciting at all lol. I may mix it up if we're going out with the kids but other than that I'm your average pony tail, tshirts, jeans, and tennis shoes or flip flops kind of girl. This was pretty much the most glam I get all year haha.

    2. that's supposed to be withOUT the kids :P

  5. You have the most lovely eyes! And of course, your nails are rockin'. Basically, you're just lovely. :D Thanks for sharing this with us.

    1. Well, thank you very much, you're making me blush! :)

  6. Amazing make up honey :)I'm following your blog!
