Winnie The Pooh Nail Art and School stuff!

Hey y'all!  Hello to all of the new followers!  I know I'm not not posting as much as I used to but I still hope you are enjoying my blog.  School has kept me pretty busy.  Yesterday was actually my first working on real clients.  It was crazy busy yesterday.  I ended up with two clients, both each had a manicure and a pedicure.  I had a lot of fun, I really think I'm going to love this job.  It actually surprises me just how much I enjoy it.

I haven't had a whole lot of time to do much "real" freehand nail art lately but this week I did actually use my free time in school to do a little something.  While I love love love doing nails, nail art will always be my first passion and it was fun to get these done.

Cute huh?  I really don't know how much of this type of nail art that clients will actually want but if they want it at least I know I can offer it.  lol  I just realized that I missed something on Piglet, he's missing the stripes on his body, I knew he looked like he was missing something but I couldn't figure it out.  oppsie!

Like I was saying before, yesterday was my first day to work on paying clients.  Both of the clients I had wanted french manicures using the OPI Gel polishes.  This is one of the manis I did.

I know it looks like a couple of her nails were rounded but it's just the angle I took the pic, I swear I didn't butcher her beautiful nails lol.  She really did have gorgeous nails, they were so long and strong, totally jealous!

I am actually wearing a gel polish french manicure right now too.  If you remember from my Valentine's Day post, I had acrylics on but I soaked those off and am now back to my natural nails.  If you do acrylics the right way and take them off the right way, your natural is actually still in healthy condition.  You wouldn't even know I had them on, so yay for that!  Back in the day when I got acrylics regularly I remember my nails being completely butchered and taking forever to get back to normal.  If I'd only known then what I know now.  haha

Anyhoo, I know a lot of people hate feet pics so if you're interested, you can also see her super cute gradient pedicure I did HERE in my Nail Art Gallery.  I think she left a very happy customer and hopefully will be back :)

Happy Valentines Day!

Hey y'all!  I just wanted to do a quick post to share my Valentines nails and some acrylic nails I worked on yesterday.  I ordered some fimo nail art pieces and a set of colored acrylic powder so I had a lot of fun playing with them.  I am in love with the colored acrylic, it is so much fun to work with.  I'm all about making bows with it lol.  The more I get into this course, the more I am really getting comfortable with everything.  I really think I've found my niche.

My acrylic application is getting better everyday.  I even let someone do a full set on me.  I haven't had crylic nails in probably 10 years but my nails have gotten in bad shape over the last week or so.  All the acetone and constant work with nail files and stuff is really giving my nails a beating. :(

There is a lot going on with my nails today.  Every nail is something different.  Like I said, there's a lot going on.  Maybe too much lol

Here are several of the acrylic nails I did yesterday.  The two bows and the conversation heart nails were all done using the new acrylic powders I got.  I love the conversation hearts, I think they turned out pretty cute. And I am loving doing the bows, so much fun!  The yellow nail are some of my new fimo pieces.

I really am having a lot of fun.  The book work is kind of boring but it's not all nail art and polish, if I don't know the book stuff I'll never pass my state board exam.  I have my second test tomorrow, this one is on Nail tips and nail wraps.  I think after next Tuesday I'll have enough hours to start working on human clients instead of my little creepy finger friends here.  Exciting stuff!

Well, I hope you all have a great Valentines Day!  XOXO

Love and Lust Nails

Hey y'all!  I'm in in my second week of my nail course.  Still going pretty good.  I got my first test back today. I missed two but I still got 100% because of extra credit.  It was an open book test though so really only missing two isn't really that good.  They were trick questions lol

Anyhoo, Nothing new to update on.  I did want to share a mani that one of my classmates did on my nails.  I am super impressed with the talent in my class.  I told her to do whatever she wanted and she came up with this super cute Love and Lust Valentines nail art.  I wish we would have gotten pics of the thumbs, one says love and one says lust.

I love the Kisses and Chocolate covered strawberries!  The handcuffs are a nice touch too haha.

Thanks for stopping by XOXO.

Valentine Nails~Rhinestones

Hey y'all!  I really hate that I haven't had much time to post.  This whole school thing is really taking a bite out of my blogging time.  It's still going pretty good though.  Our school is also a working salon.  Clients are in and out all day getting manicures and pedicures so we will get plenty of practice on humans and not just the little plastic fingers I showed you the other day.  I actually won't get to work on clients for another few weeks though.  I have to do 75 hours first.

Anyhoo, how about some nails?  Valentines Day is just a few days away so I did these simple but pretty rhinestone nails.  I used Pure Ice All Vamped Out and round and heart rhinestones from Born Pretty Store.

Thanks for stopping by today, have a great day! XOXO

Nail school update

Hey Hey Hey!  Sorry I've been quiet lately.  This was my first week of my nail course.  So far everything is going pretty well.  I'm just diving on in and learning how to do things.  The last two days I've been working on doing acrylics.  It won't take me long before I have everything down with that and can move on to sculptured nails.  Sculptured nails really intimidate me o.O

I won't get my kit until I complete 150 hours but I have been able to check out some of the other students cases and HOLY OPI awesomeness!  I can't wait to get it.  I did get a little bit of stuff to get me started though.  I got two dappen dishes, a little glass dish with a lid for polymer (acrylic powder), 5 finger forms, a brush for applying acrylic and my name tag.

My first day was on Tuesday and I didn't really do too too much besides book work.  On wednesday though I started working on acrylics and thats what I did today as well.  I'm having a lot of fun with that.  Here's a little bit of what I've done this week.

I have case that I've been bringing with me that has some of my polish and nail art supplies so I'm getting a lot of practice with that as well.  My classmates are really blowing me away with their talent, their creativity is awesome and I love being around so many people with the same passion as me.  This is definitely more fun than any other school I've been to lol.

That's about it so far.  I really am enjoying it and learning a lot.  I'll try to do another post this weekend.   Until then, have a good one!  XOXO

Valentine's Nails

Hey y'all!  Happy Monday!  Today I have a super cute Valentine's mani to share.  I love, love, love how this turned out.  I used Pure Ice Sweet Tart and added Butter London Matte topcoat.  Sweet Tart is really gorgeous and perfect for Valentine's Day.

Did I mention that I love this because I do.  Adding the little beads was a little tedious but it really really didn't take too long, maybe 5 minutes.  This is such a simple design but really makes a huge impression.  Simple, pretty and romantic.  Perfect for that special Valentine's date, don't you think?

Born Pretty Store BK Sweet Candy Nail Polish Review

Hello!  I have a few polishes from Born Pretty Store to share with you guys today.  I was sent #03 and #24 from the BK Sweet Candy Nail Art Polish collection.

First is this really pretty light green cream, #03.

This is #24, a really lovely bright orange.

They are really good quality and dry fast.  Both went on opaque in two coats and dried really shiny.  these are shown without a topcoat.  I would definitely buy more of these. They retail for $2.95 to $2.61 depending on the quantity you purchase.  There are 18 different colors to choose from the Sweet Candy collection, you can view them HERE

These products were sent to me for review and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

NFL Nail Art Series #17 ~ Superbowl Edition

Hey y'all!  Are you ready for the Superbowl tonight?  We're having a little party at home. Well, I say we're having a party but really it's just the hubby, me and the kids and a bunch of junk food lol.  We'll be watching the superbowl though.  My husband is rooting for the 49ers and I'm going for the Ravens because I refuse to root for the 49ers...ever!  It kills me to have them on my nails even.  They're on there but I don't like it!  lol

This will more than likely be the last time I do this series.  I did it last year and this year and have done every single NFL team so I think I'm done.  Don't get me wrong, you'll definitely see some more Saints and Cowboys nails though, those are my teams!  ;)

For my Superbowl Nails I did the 49ers Vs. Ravens and didn't pick sides.  I love the gradients with each of the team's colors.

Polishes Used:
Wet N Wild Black Creme
Sally Hansen Golden-I
Kleancolor Neon Purple
Sally Hansen Red Zin
Various Acrylic paints

If you click the "Football series 2012" label at the bottom of this post it will take you to all of the posts for this year's NFL Nail Art Series.  Have Fun and enjoy the rest of your weekend! XOXO

Mardi Gras Gradient Nails

Hey, Hey, Hey!  Do you know what time it is???  IT'S MARDI GRAS TIME!!!!  I already did one Mardi Gras post a few weeks ago (HERE) where I talked about Mardi Gras in my town.  Today was actually the big Krewe of Centaur parade so I did my nails up all festive for the day.  I actually didn't get to stay for the parade but I did go to a party for a bit.  People get out there at the break of dawn and set up along the parade route and basically just have a big tail gate party all day long with lots of drinks and food.  It's one big all day party then the parade rolls around for about an hour and everybody stays and parties into the night.  Good times!

My nails were a big hit today and I think I have some potential future clients, yay!  :)

These were done using Sally Hansen Golden-I, Kleancolor Metallic Purple, and Sinful Colors San Fransisco.

I love doing gradients with metallic polish, it's just so pretty.  They're also very messy and hard to clean up but the end result is so worth it.   I actually did something like this last year too but my gradient skills and clean up skills have very much improved lol.  It's true what they say, practice does make perfect.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great night and Laissez les bons temps rouler!
